see what it shows under "Lens Type", and post your results here.
And let us send the list off to Adobe as it won't help otherwise They are probably aware of the info but wouldn't about our findings.

This is the info currently embedded into LR1.4.1 CameraRaw.dll:

I'm fairly certain that in the actual EXIF, each lens is only identified by a numeric identifier. The EXIF reader/interpreter translates this number into a lens description.
Exactly what I said

I'm positive your post was not there when I started typing mine. I was too lazy to check posting times but I'm guessing I started typing mine while you were typing yours.

I can only confirm that the K20D/K10D don't recognize third party lenses. The EXIF doesn't show a lens name/description, only focal length. I didn't have to adjust my lenses for FF/BF, so I can't say how it works with third party lenses.
I have to disagree, when I view images with KUSO EXIF viewer, I see the following

LensSpec TAMRON SP AF 28-75mm F2.8 XR Di (A09)
and when viewing FUll data the data appears again under

LensType TAMRON SP AF 28-75mm F2.8 XR Di (A09)

I think this kind of exactly specifies my Tamron 28-75

And this was done on a K10D.

I think it is a question of what your software shows, not what is contained in the EXIF Data

Lowell, if you read my post, it contained this line:
QuoteQuote:
'4 49' = TAMRON SP AF 28-75mm F2.8 XR Di (A09)
It is this ID (4 49) which is in the EXIF. The K10D shouldn't know if this is a Pentax or not. The problem only starts if you have two 3rd party lenses sharing the same lens id.

If you look at some of the previously posted tables, you'll see that it depends on the lens.

For whatever reason, Tamrons tend to be more likely to be uniquely identified, while Sigmas seem to be much more prone to lens ID collisions, making it impossible for an EXIF reader to identify the lens.

For example, my Tamron 70-300 is fully and uniquely identified, while my Sigma 17-70 shares a lens ID with one Tamron model and multiple Sigma models, resulting in it displaying as "Tamron <model info here> or multiple Sigma" or something like that.

I stand corrected by Entropy and falconeye.

While my tamron and my sigma 70-0200 F2,8 are correct, my sigma 10-20 shows up as a tamron 30-90mm F4 (oops)
