2007 quality with k-10... wow!

So looked through old photos for a project and I am floored.

It was my first dslr ever, after sony bought minolta I wanted in body stabilization.

I no longer have the FA-35 f/2 or the DA 70 but I am absolutely shocked at the quality of the pictures I took in 2007 & 2008 with this setup.

I keep chasing gear.... maybe there is no need? :-)

Some of my nicest images were taken with the k-x. I know I am a lot better, and theoretically I have a much better camera and lenses, but some of those old images are still in my collection of 'best ever'.

I still adore so many of the shots that I have from my k100ds - returned to photography with it and shot with it for 7 years. I also had time then to shoot more but those sony ccd sensors were magic!

I still shoot with my K10D... why not? For what 90% of people do with their photos, the progress made in sensor and processing technology mean very little in fact. Most are just as happy with a smart phone photo, the rest of us are chasing pixels!

I keep on saying to myself that images are a result of opportunity. The more you put yourself in a position to capture something awesome the better. If you're not AT the concert you will never get that awesome shot OF the concert Chasing gear is good up to a point. After that it's a matter of skill and opportunity. Sometimes though the more skill you have the more opportunities arise.

I loved my Sony a330 with it's 10mp CCD sensor, but sadly, it couldn't do much in low light. I remember ISO 400 was pushin' it back then, and ISO 800 was for emergencies only!

Unless you are cropping , or enlarging , or using very high ISO ..

The old cameras do a very good job .

I still have a istD and a K10 , and they do just fine ..

I was never disappointed with the image quality out of my k100d paired with either a fa50/1.4 or a dfa100mm macro. Any problems were user error.

I loved my K10. I only upgraded to a K30 because I needed the extra light sensitivity. The extra resolution was just a bonus.
I gave the K10 to my niece who is learning Photography. She has the best camera in the class, even though the others all have more modern Canikons.
Hers is the only semi-pro grade camera in the bunch and she can shoot outdoors in the rain.

Just because manufacturer XYZ comes out with a new camera, does NOT mean the one you have just turned to garbage.

I recently took my Pentax *istDL out of hibernation, put the FA 35mm F2.0 on it, and took it on one of my daily walks.
The pictures it took were just fine. Still much better than a smartphone on a 24" monitor much less pixel-peeping at 1:1.
