K5 Resurrection!!!

Well, after lamenting the demise of my poor K5 in the sea the other day, GOOD NEWS. I put it in a bag of rice for a few days, pulled it out this afternoon, and to my surprise - it's working!!! It doesn't look very pretty, everything's a bit stiff, but hey, I can live with that. I'm extremely delighted. I imagine it might not have a very long life, if saltwater is busily corroding the insides. Still a shame about the lens though. That's really had it...

Excellent! Enjoy it while you can - as you say, it may not last long

Try it! Who knows, it might give you super photographic powers!

Do make sure to cook it first, though.

Mutated in a curious experiment involving rice and a waterlogged camera, he now saves the day as PENTAX MAN!!!

"Help, Pentax Man, Help! My K-1000 fell in the raging river!"

"No problem, young man - I will dive in and rescue it, and restore it to glory with my SUPER PENTAX POWERS!"

(Two weeks later.) "Thank you, Pentax Man! My camera still works, AND the film was even okay! How can I ever repay you?"

"It's all in a day's work, good fellow."

That's good news after bad! It could have been worse, we finally found out what is holding up the FF from introduction. Once you get a squirrel infestation in your camera no amount of rice will clear it up......peanuts can help, but it takes truckloads to get them all out.

Regards!

LOL - Pentax full-frame as squirrel version of a clown car! Just what secret technologies are Ricoh keeping squirrelled away until Spring 2016!

Thanks a lot for all your best wishes. It takes quite a bit of effort to switch on and off, but so far so good...
