I did it. I pulled the K20D + DA* Trigger

Man, talk about nerve-wracking but exciting!
-----

Just today I managed to sell my used pickup to a very nice gentleman for a decent sum of money. I had my heart set on the K20D because of the more advanced features, and perhaps some lenses.

------

So I went through so many iterations of lenses, trying to decide what I wanted to get, etc. I came to the conclusion I will never be completely satisfied until I win the lottery and buy every lens I ever want, and Pentax's current rebate is pretty nice.

My new gear, as of this Wednesday, assuming UPS doesn't get lost:

1) K20D
2) Pentax 16-45mm f/4
3) DA* 50-135mm f/2.8
4) Pentax 55-300mm

This stuff joins my K200D, which I'll probably end up selling off, as I don't need two bodies. (my Tamron I'm returning due to focus issues).

I hope I made the right decision!

Thanks. I've never spent such a large amount of dough at once -- I'm seriously hoping this solves any LBA that might ever rear its head.

That is, of course, unless Pentax does something evil like intoduce a 400mm prime.

argh.

Oooh..you fool!

Pixelpeeing at 14.6MP AND curing LBA? How's that going to work? ;P

I said Enjoy, but of course didn't mean you'd be done.....you will wonder if other lenses are going to be better.

Be a 50% man, judge only prints and it'll be an amazing ride.

That 16-45 is super tempting, except that you only get the rebate with the body. If I hadn't bought the 50-135 prior to the rebate program, I might have made the jump for the rebates.

Enjoy the 50-135. I love my copy.

What? Not one Limited lens? Or do you already have one or two?

My husband has a beat-up 95 Corolla in our driveway, but I don't think I could convince him to sell it, especially not to finance my photography hobby. He doesn't seem to think we can get by with any less than 3 vehicles between the 2 of us (sigh).

At any rate, enjoy your new toys!

My congratulations to you; I think you made a fantastic choice all the way around. You will now be busy for a while, excited too. I love my K20d. Oh, let me know if your local UPS guy/gal gets lost--I work for UPS.

Regards,

Ernest

Congratulation!! Amazing + admiring!

I will have such plan to upgrade to K20d as well shortly (hopefully after K200d baby come back from repair before my wife is back):
- considering to sell my K200d to my brother (because he said he like the K200d more than his 400d or even 450d in term of quality!! It was the first time I know he was a P-fans)

I considered this for quite a while, which (if any) limited to buy, or fixed-focal in general, but I'm not sure what focal I really want, and some of them are expensive.

To clarify, I didn't use my "truck money" for the 55-300; I'm funding that from the refund of my Tamron 28-75, so I had about $1900 to work with.

I think once I shoot some pictures using the "full range" from 16-300, I will then know what prime I want to get. I'm betting right now it's going to be something semi-wide for landscapes and general photograhy. I had considered the 70mm LTD, but I'm not much of a portrait guy so I think the lens would have found limited use as compared to the 50-135 or a 16-45.

My gut feeling tells me the 50-135 is going to be my "go to" lens, so I'm not sure when/if I can scrape up enough cash to purchase a limited. But trust me, I considered them all

I'm betting that once I do spring for a prime lens, it'll be around 30-35mm, LTD or DA*. I'm not sure I can justify almost $900 for the 31mm LTD, though, however a nice lens it may be, because I have a feeling the wife will clamp down any more future major purchases from me until the kids graduate college -- and my oldest is just 2 yrs
