Thanks Ray; nice to hear from someone with a K10D, going to a K3! I'm definitely keeping one of my K10D's as my backup body.
I also started out with a K10D then upgraded to K-5 and last year got the K-3. Each camera was a big step up over the previous version. I do a lot of wildlife photography which involves cropping. The increase in resolution from the K 10D to the K-5 was significant and even more resolution (especially when cropping) with the K-3. I still use my K-5 as a backup and for shooting when cropping is not needed. My K10D hardly gets much use anymore. It was a great camera in its day, but compared to the K-3 you will see a huge improvement.

So far I have bought: K5, K30, K-S1, and last of all K3. (So far, but I am worried that I might want the FF eventually)

The only one I ever use nowadays is the K3. I bought the K-S1 because I wanted a lightweight setup, but the K3 is so perfect for me ergonomically that I don't notice the extra weight, even though it is equivalent to carrying an extra lens.

The K-S1 uses the same sensor as the K-S2, and I can vouch for the quality of the IQ, it gives lovely results - but when I played with the K-S2 in the shop the camera didn't feel very good to me - too light, and too many areas where I felt paranoid about wear and tear.

The K3 is superb, it feels robust, and gives very good results, quickly and quietly. Only last night a friend showed me his new Canon 5D mk III, costing 4 times the price of my K3, and I didn't feel envious at all, the K3 held its own in comparison, but with the bonus of saving nearly 2000 dollars to spend on lenses!

TL, DR - The K3 is a super bargain.

Adam, that may be the best option for me; if I can find this kind of deal in about a month!

You certainly threw a nice option in the mix for me! Sure couldn't want for anything with the K3!
In a month the deals may even be better. I went froma K20D to a K-30 and that was a huge jump, K10D to K-3 should be spectacular!

Oh yes, I agree with that. My K10D will be with me until it dies.

Yes, one of my K10D's has only 1800 shutter counts, and it has the grip; so guess which one I'm keeping!

The jump from the K10D to the K3 is mind blowing. I couldn't believe the difference. The KS2 is essentially the replacement for the K50. Carol you may need a bigger hard drive for those K3 files.

I am excited for you Carol. I felt like a little kid at Christmas when I got mine. Of course it was during the Black Friday sales last year. You will see your 55-300 in a whole new light on the K3.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate your opinions! I do think the K3 might be within my reach soon; so hope a good deal is still available when I can get it!
I've seen K3 in person at BH. If I did not have K5iis, not waiting for FF, I would jump for K3 deal without doubt.

If you shoot landscape you could also have a look in here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/172-pentax-k-3/304968-pixel-shift-may-actually-winner.html. It's the K-3ii which is more expensive than the K-3, but the results are fascinating!

Thanks, but the K3 is as expensive as I can afford; and I'm sure I'll be very delighted with it; as my next step is more lenses!
