Has anyone tried or able to try something like this? It shows the Nikon 7200 tracking abilities.. would be interesting to see how well a Pentax would fair

Interesting sequence. I do notice that the tracking in the video (using the square as the focus point) is not perfect. That would be expected when using the Contrast Detect Auto Focus needed for video.

It works roughly like that on pentax k-3. Not so much on other pentax cameras.

How many images were in focus at the end of the test?
K3 tracks much slower and more erratically in my opinion, but it all depends on the subject and the light conditions.
