Originally posted by jhacker I have a young friend I'm helping get into photography. Her family bought her (I guess) a used Pentax k50. I'm a lifelong pentaxian and I have a K20d that I've used for four years, then I skipped right over the K50 to the K5II and the K3 in the past year. When her family bought the K50, apparently it didn't come with a battery charger. I don't know why. The K5II and K3 use the same battery and charger. Will that charger charge the battery that the K50 uses, which is apparently slightly different? Will the K20d charger work?
The K-50 shares its battery only with the K-r, K-30, K-500, K-S1, and K-S2. The battery model is the
D-Li109 and the corresponding charger is the
D-BC109.
For the K-50, you can also get an AA battery holder (
D-BH109) instead of using the dedicated battery.
Third-party knock-offs of all of these accessories are out there. I recommend that you check reviews before buying anything that isn't genuine. Wasabi products (as mentioned above) do work well.
