From K-30 to K-3

Hi,

does anyone do this upgrade?

I've read that new sensor had lost something in shadow recovery but is there anyone that doing the upgrade from k30 - k5 sensor to k3 's one is no longer able to bring out the shadows as before from a raw file? Or is it a negligible difference?
I would like to know if I will get a real improvement in image quality without the AA filter, especially in macro.

Thank You

Even though the pixels are smaller, the larger number of them help your noise reduction. Turns out to be similar ISO performance when this is taken into account.

I have now the K-3. and when comparing it to the K-01 (also the same sensor as the k30). The K-3 shows bit more noise, but it is far easier to get rid of in PP.

+1. Same experience from K-01 to K-3.

IMHO the K-3 is far a superior camera than the K-01 and the sensor is a large part of the gap.

Well, yeah, more resolution, and pixel shifting on the K-3 II would be great for the OP's macro stuff. :-)

I can pull shadows no problem and I made the jump from the K5 to K3. The K3 was a worthwhile upgrade.

Upgraded from K-7 to K-3 in the summer last year. Absolutely no regrets about doing so. The K-3 has turned out (as if that had been a complete surprise, which it hasn't) the better camera in virtually any respect I could think of, except maybe battery life, although that isn't bad for a flagship APS-C DSLR either.

Even coming from a K-30, the K-3 should be a substantial upgrade. I doubt that you would see much difference in shadow recovery, and while the K-3 may invite a little more noise at high ISOs than its K-5 series predecessors, it also gives raw processors and noise reduction software such generous amounts of data that you might actually even see some improved detail rendition in the finished images. Notice, though, that there may be a learning curve to post-processing the files till you finally see what the K-3 is actually capable of. (Also, upgrading to a K-3 hasn't miraculously made me a better photographer, although it does have features helping one to up one's game, but you would have guessed that anyway.)
