Strange noise with long exposures?

So on my K100D (only been using for about 4 months), i've noticed that whenever I take pictures with a longer exposure, a sort of gurgling/grinding sound emits from the camera. At first I thought it was maybe the shutter motor or something, but then I noticed that if I have it in bulb mode & hold the shutter open, the noise only occurs when the camera is moved abruptly, which leads me to believe that it's coming from some part of the shake reduction system. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do? Btw, the camera seems to operate fine despite the noise.

are you on a tripod? If so, I think the SR should be off.

not on a tripod, but even for semi-long exposure shots, like 1-2 seconds, you can hear the noise while the shutter is open.

"Sounds" like the Shake Reduction movement. It is quite noticeable and you aren't the first one to wonder, what THAT strange sound might be...

Does the noise continue if you turn SR off?

Agreed, it's the SR. Completely normal sound.

I actually DO like the noise. It's like putting alcohol on a scrape . . . Hey, YOW! I CAN TELL IT'S WORKING!
