Serial number location on D-BG4 and D-BG5

So, if you have a black D-BG4 or D-BG5, the serial is NOT easy to find. This is because it is printed on an internal surface of the grip, in black. Found mine, thought I'd share an example:

Also of note is that the format is NNLNNN, 2 numbers, a letter than 3 numbers.

IDK if all the serial numbers were in this format, but if they are, then most of the entries for the D-BG4/5 in the serialnum DB are wrong.

I found serial numbers 112409 and 116412 in this location on my D-BG4s for my K-7 and K-5. My serials are all NNNNNN.

Also found that the D-BG2 for the K10D and K20D have the serial in the same location.

thanks, i would have never seen that. in fact, even after knowing where to look, i still had a hard time seeing it, lol.

My D-BG5 is either 101ZE1 or 101281!
Take your pick!

Why is so important that we know the grip's serial number?
