K10D and wireless flash

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone is using the K10D and AF360 or AF540's in wireless slave mode off camera with the K10 controlling them? I would like to set up a couple of strobes with umbrellas for portraits.

Thanks,

Ed

just bought the 540 today. was trying out the wireless function, pretty nice. you can set the k10 just to control the slave units...

Yes, I've played with it with my 360. It works a treat, but I'm yet to spend some time experimenting. I suspect that will wait until the cold and dark of winter...

Hi Randy, I have a question for you. I own the sigma 500 super and I know that it has to be rechipped to work with the K10D. My question is this, eventually I will get the new body, but I want to keep my DS. If I get the Sigma rechipped, will it work with both cameras?

Have used this setup a lot for interiors and corporate portraits with the *istD. Works great. Works just the same on the K10D with the added bonus of flash exposure comp on camera...

You will need some stands and hotshoe adapters with umbrella clamps. You can get these in most photo stores.

As far as I know, once you get the flash rechipped it should be totally backwards compatable

BTW, how do you know you need yours rechipped.
My unit is only a couple of months old, is the right serial number (range) and I am wondering if I need a new chip as well

cheers

just got m sigma back and can get it ti work with the K10 on the body and get it to fire of camera but I do not think it is working right. Meaning it does not seem to be expsoing correctly. I went back and for on DP but still do not think it is working correctly. EF-500DG super is a slave to K10D: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review so are saying Randy your Sigma exposes correctly off the camera wirelessly

At this point, NO Sigma flash, chipped or re-chipped would work wirelessly using K10D's built-in flash (firmware v1.1). For wireless flash, it could only work with another flash attached to K10D.

You have to wait until Sigma comes up with a fix.
