I had an aperture motor failure after a few years with my k-30. I replaced it with a k-50 since the repair would probably not be worth it. The k-50 aperture motor failed after 6 months. There is some concern that I may have inadvertently bought a grey market camera from Amazon, but that is besides the point. Has Pentax ever provided a definitive fix for this issue? If I do manage to get a warranty repair, would it be better to sell the k-50 while it is still working and buy a K3 or K3 ii or just abandon Pentax? I have a number of Pentax and Pentax compatible lenses and would hate to abandon the brand, but I'm feeling beat up by continuing failure on a part that should be good for 10000 or more shutter clicks.
So, how many shutter clicks did you have on each camera?

I'm not convinced that the average consumer grade camera is built assuming 10K more more clicks.
As I've said in other threads, my personal usage seems to be 800 or fewer per year;
perhaps I'm low-count king {I hardly ever use bursts, for example}, but I'm not convinced of that.
I'm guessing that most K-n0, K-Sn, and Canon Rebel cameras are sold to customers with usage patterns more like mine than like a professional.
I'm not saying that would justify skimping on parts, but that may simply be how things are.
{before I came over to Pentax, I had two Canon Rebels die during an 8 year period, with total shutter count under 5K}

Actually, the failure rate probably isn't higher than any other 4-year-old dSLR. But since several hundred thousand K30 / K50 were made - and every user who has an aperture failure posts about it somewhere on the Internet - we see a larger number of posts about this issue than other (less common) models' failures.

Saying these posts might represent a normal failure rate is distinctly different from saying the failures aren't happening, or saying "there isn't a problem".

Come to think of it, the Mode Dial has fallen off my K-01 . . . . . . .

Sometimes I feel like the only Pentaxian with a working K-30 (6388 shots and counting). OTOH, both my 16-50 and 50-135 lenses suffered SDM failure, so YMMV.

Do you know what, I am more interested in hunting down this 0-s250 mirror motor and fixing my k-30 myself. Too bad Pentax wont sell parts to their cameras anymore thereby make us at the mercy of Precision.

Yup, my k50 had the problem, but the 50-135, 60-250, 200, and 17-70 are all going strong with sdm. Statistics makes fools of us all.

Ouch. Might be worth an upgrade to a new body for our Original Poster, then.

Yes but if you buy a new one the same thing might happen again.
