Aperture stopped when in LV

Hi IM a k30 user( for 3 years) and I have seen it stops down the aperture in LV but with 1,4 lens it stops it to 5,6 ! (it exposes correctly - I don't have aperture the motor/exposure inconsistency problem).

Even though I have set the 1,4 and pressing the LV button instantly stops down the lens and makes AF harder than through finder...it's stupid. It does even with the DA40...Is it a normal behaviour ? ( It doesn't do it with a M lens )

Yes that is normal and pretty stupid feature IMO. I had many problems with that on my K-r since 1.4 is very shallow, 5.6 in LV is just not accurate for manual focusing. Only workaround is to program the green button to optical preview and focus in LV while pressing the button. My friend owns K-30 and it also does that also. I even think that K-r and K-30 have the same shutter/aperture assembly since they sound almost the same. My K-3 II (and probably other higher end Pentax cameras) does not do that when in LV, lens is wide open unless you do optical preview.

So it is good to have a lens with aperture ring. F1.4 remains a 1.4 in LV.
