Continuous and Single Shot AF with the Back Button

Is the K-3 and K-5 series cameras capable of this feat?

a) Assign AF to the Back Button & NOT to the Shutter Button
b) Set your camera to AF-C, that is continuous AF.
c) For Continuous AF with the Back Button: Press and hold the focus button on the back of the camera to achieve continuous autofocus. Fire the shutter.
d) For Single AF with the Back Button: Press and hold the Back Button to initially achieve focus. Then release the button so the focus will not change until you press the button again. Fire the
shutter.

This would be a great achievement as it would provides considerable flexibility when photographing a variety of different subjects under changing situations.

As also Back Button AF will allow one to separate the metering function from the focus function. This may allow considerable flexibility in the photography workflow.

Thanks in advance.

Yes on all four points. There is a thread on point d) with lots of people preferring this method for focussing - but rather double-tap than hold.

Edit: Sorry, misread point d). The "method" I was referring to is to set back button to AF-C, then double tap it to "emulate" AF-S. Some people claim this is better/faster/more accurate than simply using AF-S.

I mostly use AF-S and back button AF, though.

Did you read the manual for both cameras???? If so then you would have known it is.
