Returned a faulty K20D? Post the serial # here!

Just want to see how many have returned faulty K20D's and why and what the serial number was I'd be interested to see if there are any "batches" or groups with similar issues.

How few K20D's have been faulty right out of the box?
From what I can tell fewer than the # of faulty K10D's

Unless there's an obvious problem I don't think that a thread like this will do more than alarm potential buyers into thinking there is a problem.

Eh? I see this thread going nowhere. Faulty K20D reports are about as rare as a $3 bill.

Well, I think only Pentax would know! :-)

Well I for one am curious to see how many have returned K20D's. I don't particularly care about potential users they can decide on their own merits if they wish to purchase one or not.

I want to know who has returned theirs and why it was faulty. For me it was an image quality/focus issue.

How very considerate of you.

By the worries in your signature "Amateurs worry about equipment, pros worry about money, masters worry about light." what are you?
He worries about equipment, so he's amateur (and so do I), very obviously.

Hard to worry about light when you have to send your camera back for faults.

I haven't had a chance to test the second K20D body I bought the other day but will have time during the week hopefully that one works better.

And I wouldn't worry about threads like this deterring possible Pentax purchasers. I'd worry about the hundreds of thousands of camera stores around the world who push Canon or Nikon on hapless DSLR newbies and make them belive these are the only brands that exist. Get past that then we'll talk scare mongering.

I had a bunch of images come out soft yesterday and thought something may be wrong with the SR or sensor itself, but when I tested it today it worked perfectly. Must have been the shooting conditions yesterday (handheld at a parade). I can't really find any fault with this camera.

Dave,

Be wary of SR unless you absolutely need to use it. Especially if you are at a parade and panning or moving the camera quickly when shooting as the SR can actually make the shots worse. Also remember there is a slight time delay for the SR to activate and if you press the shutter button before it activates it wont work.
