FA 77 Limited in Sydney?

Hi there

I'll be in Sydney in a few days and I was wondering if any of you know of a place where I can buy a FA 77 Ltd. there.

Thanks!
Roman

Hi

best bet is to Phone CR Kennedy in Sydney and see if you can get it over their counter. It might be you buy on line and then pick it up.

Check Digidirect. They are listing it at $899, which is the best available in Aus at the moment (at a quick glance). You can buy online and pick up in store (check if they have stock).

If you could see this stores duty free instruction, do not know if they have the lens you are after, but you can claim the GST tax when you depart Australia and should be applicable to any store that issues a tax reciept.

DCXpert has it for $899 and their service is incredible...overnight courier at no cost, and absolutely reliable. I have never experienced a service as good as theirs before.

Their stuff comes from the Australian importer (C R Kennedy). If you contact their Sydney office, you might be able to pick one up there, as suggested above.

I have found that Digidirect sometimes claims to have products in stock, but when you put in an order, there's a wait. Phone first and/or use one of their physical stores.

The 77 is a stunning lens - enjoy!

Note that if you want to claim the 10% Tourist Refund (it's a refund of the GST called Tourist Refund Scheme or TRS), you need to have a tax invoice to show for it. This used only to apply to "bricks-and-mortar" stores, but DCXpert do send one from CR Kennedy - I received one with the filters I bought from the DCXpert ebay store during their last sale. Oh, and I can absolutely recommend buying from the DCXpert website - their turnaround time is very good (the filters arrived just over 24 hours after buying them, a first for me).
Here's a link to start you off on the "what and how to claim" TRS trail:

I've had great service from DCXpert as well: www.ebay.com.au/itm/PENTAX-FA-SMC-77MM-F1-8-LIMITED-EDITION-LENS-BLACK-BONUS-SANDISK-8GB-SD-CARD-/231812123007
They are a Melbourne online-only retailer. They use C R Kennedy for fulfilment.

heck Digidirect. They are listing it at $899, which is the best available in Aus at the moment (at a quick glance).
Georges (a bricks-and-mortar store at 387 George St, Sydney) also have it listed for this price (in black or silver), with a genuine warranty: PENTAX FA 77mm f1.8 LIMITED - BLACK
It would be worth calling ahead to confirm that they have the lens in stock.

Check with Pentax whether the warranty will cover you once you return to Europe.

Also recommend Dcxpert. If they say it's in stock it's in the country and in the warehouse. Digidirect doesn't appear to have the best stock control.

Modern firms hate carrying inventory.

My guess is Digidirect simply courier stuff as needed from CR Kennedy anyway.
