some K20D ISO 6400 shots in real life situations

showing my canon friend how kewl my new camera is...

he is still set on buying a 5D, i dont blame him but i keep trying to sway him to the dark side.

just a few lightroom tweaks to fill the shadows in a bit

i did not use any 3rd party noise reduction, only i dont remember what i had the camera set to for this particular shot.

this was done with a Chinon 50mm lens, F4.0 @ 1/8

At first glance, you don't notice the noise on the first picture.

Superb for iso 6400.

That is incredible. Looks like 1600 on my old Canon 20D.

Ar first I thought the noise was lousy until I realized, "oh yeah, 6400 ISO!"

I have no problem with the 5D, great camera, but why buy one now? It's more than 3 years old and while it does have FF sensor, the overall technology has left it behind. Surely Canon will have a replacement for it soon.

Anyone else see horizontal banding in the upper left? :-P

FWIW, played w/ a friend's D300 this weekend and it didn't look much better (aka, I don't think I'd like using it unless I absolutely have to :-)
BTW, on the funny side, they now use a reallllly bright white LED for a focus assist light. I think it's as annoying as the K10D's popup flash ;-)

Man that's pretty good - Looks better than my K20D's ISO 3200!

I may have to do more testing.

the thing with banding, i pretty much assume that its going to be there

plus unlike my K100D @ 3200 there is no "chunk" banding where there is a clearly visible line there.
