So did you give it a name? My K3 is Spencer, the K3 II is Erich.

Oh no... he's befitting something more grandiose than that I feel.

A nobleman of some sort perhaps.

I'm waiting for the K3 prices to come down or maybe a K5II or K5IIs. My daughter has stolen my K5II and i really miss it. I took a trip to the Pensacola Naval Air Museum and brought along my K50 and DA*16-50, very disappointed

From my point of view, with wildlife being my main photography subject, and particularly smaller birds, I won't be changing. The extra length that the APS crop gives would be too much to lose. Image quality wise I don't see there is any real benefit over the K3, which has startling image quality anyway. I like the K1, I've had a long play around, but it's not on my wish list. I don't think I will ever need to change the K3 unless it dies and is no longer made.

yes, within 24 months, but not as an upgrade, rather an addition to the kit.

+1. I am sure they did a lot of research and had lots of numbers, but ultimately a leap of faith into the unknown. There is a lot riding on this launch. "Future of Pentax as a brand" is not really a big reach, this is a pivotal moment in the companies history.
I think that this is a point that cannot be overstated.

I am unlikely to buy a K-1 in the near future. [I may even have to wait for the "K-1 II".] (It looks like my K-3 will do a better job than the K-1 crop mode for my tele lenses.)

But I will be cheering on the success of the K-1 in the marketplace -- it's ~very~ important to the future of Pentax/Ricoh.

Not all D7000 users, even the pros, upgraded to a D810. It's to be expected that most users won't upgrade. It is a great addition for the "I need more ways to spend my money." crowd, and the very small minority who actually do prints large enough to take advantage of the increased resolution. And there are a lot more who claim to need that capability than actually do need that capability.

I am sure I don't need a k-1. Actually I don't need a camera at all.
But after a week I am really glad I did. Not often I buy something that exceeds my expectations, but the k-1 has and I have hardly scratched the surface.

I upgraded from a K-3 to a K-1 a week ago. I am more than happy with the new FF. Traded in my only APS-C lens (DA16-50)at the same time, and bought the DFA 24-70.
However, in addition to the K-1 I am planning to get another crop body once the successor to the K-3 series is introduced. The extra reach provided by this format comes in handy when shooting wildlife.
