I'm thinking of all the people on here who bought the k200d or k20d like me...early on and find out that Pentax is offering a $100 rebate but only for those who bought it two months after it was introduced , I feel it should have been the other way around..after al, we were the ones who had faith in the camera before it was even reviewed.

OUCH. You got ripped off - Fairly certain most if not all reasonable vendors were selling at MSRP ($1299) from the get-go. Everyone is now down to $1100 or less.

No one is charging $1299 any more, except Circuit City who claims that you are "saving" $600 off of their massively marked up $1900 price when in fact you are paying MSRP when everyone else is priced $200 below.
The K20D launched here for about AU$1900, which, at the time, was probably about US$1700...

I'll tell you this, just so you feel better.

I purchased my D1 in June 2001, used, and in great shape, for $5000.00 Canadian, no warranty, as is.

What's it worth today, about what you paid for your istDl, maybe.

Just forget it and carry on. If you can buy the K100 and then sell the istDL even better.

Hi Pentaxlvr,

life told you a lesson. I know the feeling. However, in retrospect, every such lesson was cheap, in comparison. You better learn from it. Over time, at various occasions, I have lost $200 (like in your case, when I was young), or 100 times this amount (when I was older). You better learn how it feels to loose money. It pays back.

In your particular case, you have lost nothing. Because in a couple of years, all current DSLRs are worth nothing.

At the time $1699 was cheap As mentioned it listed here in Australia for arounf the $1900 mark. I knew I would pay more to get in while the model was very new but never regretted the price.
