Better deal encountered after DSLR purchase.

I am green with envy and upset when I observed a Pentax K100D with kit lens available new and on clearance at a nearby Meijers store for $266.00! I just purchased my Pentax *ist DL used and the kit lens new for a total of $425.00. How, do some of you other forum members adjust to these experiences? I am tempted to buy it, but my financial situation is fragile at the moment. I considered selling my Pentax *ist DL on eBay, but my sister, who is an avid eBay user, argued that it was not presently worth the trouble. I hate these experiences! I think I need Pentax counseling.

Just one of those things you will have to deal with unfortunately.

I paid $1699.00 for my K20D the week it was released and now they are down to $1299.00.

Thats just life.....

at that price I'd grab the k100d, so that I had the IS, warranty etc and sell the DL. Even if you only got $266 for the DL you are still up.

No, I cannot. I got it from Keh.com in March. It would be too much of an inconvience even if I could return it. I hope somebody has already purchased the other Pentax DSLR just to get it off my mind.

I'd just grin and bear it. You had the *ist DL for over 3 months so I presume you have used it a lot before seeing the lower price.

I bought my wife an *ist D when they first came out, she had several K1000D lenses and I knew she wanted a DSLR. With memory, case, taxes, and NO lens I paid $1500 at Ritz Camera. I could have got it cheaper on line but wanted to actually see it work with a manual lens before purchase.

I have no regrets. She loves it and it got a lot of use before I bought my K100D when the price for a Pentax body dropped below $500.

this is the best advise to give,

There will always be a better price. Having bought an *istD and K10D within 1 month of them being available, I too paid top $ for both, but 10,000 shots into both bodies, I don't care anymore. at $0.25 per photo, developed on film, I am so far ahead of the game that it still represents value.

If you really want obsene, At one time I thought $200 for a 64K CF card was a good price yet I paid $50 for my 4GB

Dont live with regrets just go out and shoot withthe DL for a while longer.

I've had one now for 3 or 4 years and yeah there nothing like the newbreed, slow AF, really slow low light AF and probably a few other things to bug you but I heard a interview with a profesional shooter the other day. He was philosical about cameras and said "you ont make images with the camera but with your eye, the camera is just a tool". I'll never be satisfied with my DL but when I go through all my shots over the last few years I'm so glad I took it everywhere I went. Then I think to myself 'I'm so glad it's not as heavy as a k10d'.
Use your tool and get as much out of it as you can...

Nature of the beast as others have said - I try and stop looking once I have purchased something. The best advice has already been given - enjoy what you have and get over what you could have had - I think most of us have stories on both sides of that fence ...

Thank you Pentaxians!

After reading all the posts, I'm feeling much better now. I needed to hear such similar experiences. I really love the Pentax *ist DL. Especially the kit lens, it is so much better than the ones on the Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras.
The only problem with the *ist DL is there are occasions when it appears to be displaying some fuzziness to the pictures on closeup. It lends a dreamy quality to the images. An interesting aesthetic, although I prefer tack, sharp images.
Thank you for all the replys!

OUCH. You got ripped off - Fairly certain most if not all reasonable vendors were selling at MSRP ($1299) from the get-go. Everyone is now down to $1100 or less.

No one is charging $1299 any more, except Circuit City who claims that you are "saving" $600 off of their massively marked up $1900 price when in fact you are paying MSRP when everyone else is priced $200 below.

Your forgetting he's in Australia. Their prices are just a bit higher than ours.
