I can't speak for Australia, specifically, but of late it seems to me that the local distributor here (NZ) has woken up a bit - several camera shops who previously never had Pentax gear are now carrying both SLRs and at least both kit lenses, sometimes the 18-250 as well.

Perhaps CR Kennedy has also suddenly woken up, realised they've got a pretty good product and has decided to push it?

I'm sure that the "From $699" AUD means that it's the body only price.

That's quite a striking advert.what bugs me is that they pay for full page slots in magazines like amateur photographer here in the UK but the adverts look so generic that I can't see them grabbing any non pentax user's attention.

People seem to be slowly waking up to Pentax here in Calcutta, India too. When I was looking to buy a DSLR Nov, last year, there was no grey market presence of Pentax. I was forced to go for the 400D. Recently my cousin was looking for the K10D. The shop arranged for a K10D in a few days. The shop owner kept the original box to display in his shop window. Calcutta and India for that matter has always been a Nikon market. Slowly but surely Pentax is making inroads. Hope Pentax wakes up to the huge potential market of India and starts advertising aggresively.

Aggressive advertising is a big and expensive ploy.

Maybe Pentax is using its limited funds wisely maybe not.........

there are tons of Pentax billboards in this city (Vancouver). They are doing quite a major campaign here.

it wouldn't be pentax advertising money that was spent. It'd be CR Kennedy's money.

BTW:, i saw a Sigma ad in the Age Green Guide a few weeks ago. looks quite similar

If you've still got it, does it say that it comes with a Sigma lens, or the DA-18-55 that they have pictured? i'm guessing, knowing CR Kennedy, it's probably the sigma 18-50 DC
