The KS-1 is right up your alley. It is to me the camera that has the Kx heritage. Small, simple, not WR, scene modes, basically a very good entry level DSLR that gives great image quality and is cheap. Sure, it is 20mp, but that's the way things go. I bought 2 for Christmas presents for people and talked others into getting them for Christmas presents. Everyone who has one that I know is very happy with it.
You got me mate .... I ordered a K-s1 ... Is actually out of production and you can't find it new in my country anymore..I found a "body only" in Germany for 245 $ without shipping...The shiping was 15$ ...Warranty and everything. It was just very little wear because it was in showroom. This is awesome...I am glad that i bought the K-x otherwise i wouldn't ask questions here..
I can take back the k-x but the k-s1 will not have lens anyway so i do feel the k-x is already a bargain for what i payed.I may keep it as a backup.
Thank you to all for suggestion ...
K-s2 was too expensive here around 700 euro body only..

You are going to like it. The Kx is a good backup body and you can sell it later if you need to, probably even on here.

Well ...

What i would want is Pentax to release a new K-x maybe even keep the sensor but replacing the Autofocus with Safox X (-3ev to 18ev) and cpu for better processing and other things like screen resolution. The dimensions and weight kept in place..
The new 24.2 mp sensors are nice but the files get too large...
A bruteforce like this may be the nikon d3300 but is not same size as kx...I want the Pentax flavor of out of box thinking really...
I'd recommend the K-S1 or K-S2 (20 Mp), or you could go for the K-50. The latter doesn't have -3EV autofocus, but is otherwise a nice upgrade.

I have a K-S2 now and my first Pentax dSLR was the K-x which has now been handed down to my son.
K-S2 is a little bigger and a little heavier and doesn't take AA's. For me the sealed body, flip screen, lower noise, faster AF, illuminated AF points, longer battery life, and superior responsiveness make it a far better camera than the K-x. Worth the extra weight when I'm ski mountaineering which is a very weight-conscious activity!

The K-s1 has Sofox IX and the K-s2 have sofox X with -3ev.The same seller have a discounted K-s2 used in showroom too for 420 euro without shipping. Is tempting...

I got a grey market K-S2 body for $400 when they were still pretty new which was too good to pass up.
