My wife bought me the similar Tamron 75-300 and I've very happy with it. I have the "KIT" 50-200 but find the additional focal length worthwhile. I use it mostly for bird photos.

At the same time she bought herself the Pentax 75-300, which is lighter and smaller. I >think< the big difference is the Tamron is not a "digital 24mm only lens" so needs more glass to cover 35mm frames.

Good luck with your new lenses!

My birthday is this weekend and while I seriously doubt that I'll get any lenses as presents, I'll probably be getting some money, which I will be putting towards the DA12-24 that I want. Hey, every little bit helps.

The most expensive thing my husband has ever bought for me thus far was a clothes washer (around $1000).

I do need to say that though my husband is great, he did need a little coaxing to get the flash and the 40mm da lens. He didn't quite understand why the 40mm was a limited edition and why it was so important... I said well the # is limited... I didn't exactly know what to say but as horrible as an explanation it was, it worked. I have no idea how I was able to get him to break for the extra lens and flash. I did take out my tamron 70-300 and it is awesome! It makes the 18-55 kit lens look soft.. Is that odd or is it a sharper lens?

Well, it's all part of lifes tapestry I suppose. At least I can get what kit I want now without any arguments.

Enjoy your new kit, and look after hubby.

she could take my K110D, my superA or my K1000 and all my other lenses but ill be dammed if she took my MX and 50mm 1.7.... I would fight to the bitter end to keep those if nothing else.

I wasn't in the house when she moved out and I didn't know she had taken them until a while later as I didn't feel much like doing anything at the time.

I had just got a MZ-S as an insurance replacement for my other MX body and I supose she thought that she was entitled to her half of the kit.

The last thing I wanted was to start negotiating again.

Still had my ME Super though at the time.
