As far as i know, you won't really see much difference in real life situations between these lenses on the K200D.

The version II has a little better resolution and really needs the K20D's 14,6 megapixel sensor to show its stuff.

The old version is still a very good kit lens (remember all those people with K10D and 18-55mm kits? Its the same sensor in the K200D) and if you can save a little money getting the K200D with the old lens instead of the new one, don't hesitate just because one is newer.

I have read a few "tests" and "comparisons" of these two lenses, and some of these say the old one is better and some say the new one is.

Did you order direct from, or from one of the other vendors listed on Amazon ?

Some other vendors have been known to package the old lens. But I believe you are the first to state you get the old lens from amazon.

I ordered direct from amazon in late may, and my kit came with the AL II lens. It came in 3 boxes, a large kit box containing 2 smaller boxes, one for the camera, and one for the lens.

AL II is printed prominently on the kit box and lens box.

If anyone needs the AL II lens, I have mine for sale for $100 + shipping, including a Digital concepts circular polarizer.

In Germany, both kits are available (K200D+18-55 and K200D+18-55II) and price comparison agencies list both kits separately. Price difference is 20 . only sells the K200D+18-55 kit, except if bundled with the DA55-300: then it sells the K200D+18-55II kit.
