Lack of joy stick or quick controller.

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Specs and Images | Camera News at Cameraegg

Any thought of lacking joystick on Pentax camera body so far? I really have hard time with controlling and moving AF point around with Pentax camera which is very uncomfortable to control AF point to focus for various composing. I think Pentax should add at least one joy stick right next to thumb grip like Canon and Nikon.

I think with the way the Pentax interface is designed, it doesn't necessarily need one. You can already control AF points just using the 4-way pad.

I use only center spot so i really dont need so many AF points, and when i use them i use the 9 point group wich move fast enough (for me).

This means 5d II and III prices should sink a bit.. could be interesting.. esp with the 2nd gen 24-105 f/4 IS lens launching at the same time of this 5d iv.

Also interesting is the lack of a flippy or articulating screen. Odd omission for a mid/upper end 2016 FF DSLR imo.

Unless Pentax decided to increase/expand its AF points/coverage (i.e. heavily centered), the 4 way pad is fine.

Hmmm unexpected answers. I really hate 4 way pad's location to control af points a lot. Moving my thumb is time consuming and uncomfortable.

I have not used a canon other than my F-1 so I can't compare, but I have no issues with the 4-way pad.

What answer do you expect?

When Pentax bring a camera with more than 92 (random number) or more distribuited by all the frame, maybe a joystic can work, but for today; center point and recompose is faster than move my thumb.

On my K50 and K30 I have the FX button assigned to focus point select. I push the button, use the rear edial to move the point side to side and the front edial to move it up and down. I push the button again and I am back to my usual button and dial functions. My thumb is all I have to move. From the rear edial to the AF button.

I struggle a bit with the current arrangement and would preffer a "joystick" ....... would also preffer a bigger screen back up top with the functions of the third wheel menu selected..... but.... such is life.

nah, too clumbsy, Pentax really need to hear this, it is far easier to press an af button once then cycle the front wheel to change af points through groups and individual points. way quicker and easier.
