SRS Microsystems in the UK gave a staggering 30% (GBP550) off the new D-FA 70-200 f/2.8 ED DC AW Lens in and August Bank Holiday promotion, which was just too good to miss, so my purchase of that and the K-1 was brought forward by a year or so - and I have to say that I have no regrets at all about taking the plunge - quite the opposite.
What I wanted to highlight here is the killer combo of this lens + K-1 + pixel shift - the detail recorded is simply astonishing.
Admittedly a link to a Flickr upload of a jpeg isn't the best way to prove the point, but the fact that the detail is so good even on that does in a way make the point. I really am blown away by the IQ. Bear in mind also that this was taken in moderately low light (hence 2.5s exposure) at f/11 (sharpness peaks at f/4, although the drop-off is well controlled). The sharpness is better on this camera than my (admittedly film era) 100mm macro lens.
Great lens, killer combo
