killer combo

SRS Microsystems in the UK gave a staggering 30% (GBP550) off the new D-FA 70-200 f/2.8 ED DC AW Lens in and August Bank Holiday promotion, which was just too good to miss, so my purchase of that and the K-1 was brought forward by a year or so - and I have to say that I have no regrets at all about taking the plunge - quite the opposite.

What I wanted to highlight here is the killer combo of this lens + K-1 + pixel shift - the detail recorded is simply astonishing.

Admittedly a link to a Flickr upload of a jpeg isn't the best way to prove the point, but the fact that the detail is so good even on that does in a way make the point. I really am blown away by the IQ. Bear in mind also that this was taken in moderately low light (hence 2.5s exposure) at f/11 (sharpness peaks at f/4, although the drop-off is well controlled). The sharpness is better on this camera than my (admittedly film era) 100mm macro lens.

Great lens, killer combo

Indeed, that is some serious IQ. Sure you'll be happy with your kit.

Indeed, what a great combination! Love that side-lighting in your pic, BTW.

Great buy and great lens. And also nice price for it

As for the flickr you limit to 2048x2048 that is 4MP and were a K5 and 50-135 would have performed albeit as well. So the extra uber sharpness not really visible even if the 2048 shots look stunning.

Great shoot and great buy !
