Post your animals jumping

We all know that Pentax cameras are crap with moving targets, right? But it occurred to me that I've taken many shots of jumping animals in the last week using AF.C.

So I would like to see how others have faired shooting jumping animals with Pentax DSLRs. Please post yours here.

To start the ball rolling, here are two of mine from the last few days (both K-1 + DFA* 70-200 @ 200mm).

1/1250, f/4, ISO 640

1/1000, f/3.5, ISO 2000

Cool idea for a thread! I have a couple photos of dolphins jumping. But I didn't even need much AF - I only used AF to pre-focus, then used QS to adjust on the fly. This was using K-01 (not even DSLR, not known for fast AF) and DFA 100mm macro (macro lenses are rarely considered fast in the AF department, due to their long focus throw and range). So this was almost worst case scenario, but I still got plenty of sharp, in-focus photos. The ruined ones were due to me moving too quickly, not so much misfocusing.

Of course, they're not really "my animals" . . .

Really? You surprise me.

Very nice though. Camera and lens? (I'm guessing it wasn't the DA15.)

For the first two (from 2007) I used an *ist-DS, while for the others (from 2008-2010) I used a K20D.

For lenses, for the first three I likely used a Tokina AT-X 80-400/4.5-5.6, for the fourth I used an F*300/4.5, and for the last two I used an SMC DA 55-300/4-5.8.

All of these are screw-drive lenses that can go on "impromptu AF hunting expeditions", of course, so I likely would have had them pre-set for a focal plane just behind the expected subject plane distance, which would have helped in getting a quick focus lock.

EDIT: By the way, Paul, these were New England humpback whales, and they typically show mostly white flippers above, all white flippers below, and a body that is mostly dark -- if these had been East Australian humpbacks (which perhaps you've seen), they likely would have shown mostly dark flippers above, and a body that is dark above but with a lot more white below (IIRC).
