That's good news.

Probably the success of the K-1 convinced them that it would be a good idea to start supporting Pentax.

But it doesn't look like the 585EX supports HSS, or more importantly radio triggering. It just seems to support regular Pentax flash/optical triggering, as slave or controller.

I hope this new flash means YN plan to introduce a full 2.4Ghz radio trigger/ controller/ flash system that does P-TTL - ie P-TTL versions of YN flashes like the YN 568/ YN622 controller, YN 600, YN 685 etc. That would indeed be great.

More good news! So the P-TTL support is very deep.

I get the feeling that the YN 585 EX is a kind of technology and market test bed for YN. To help them master the Pentax flash protocols, plus get an idea of whether there is money to be made in selling YN flashes and controllers with Pentax support.

Whoop, whoop. I have been flirting with the YN 560 IV for some time now, but this is great news and might be a better option for me!

Any info on pricing?

Mh. When will it be available? And can it be triggered by the YN 560 TX, just like the manual 560 flashes?

Great news. I have the same question, can it be triggered by the YN 560 TX? Can the Canikon versions be controlled by the YN 560 TX?

Probably not, since they don't list radio triggering among the features. YongNuo has a history of parallel incompatible systems, even among their radio triggers. The 565 and 568 canikon flashes cannot be controlled by the 560TX. The new-ish YN685 does support TTL (e or i, depending on version), 603/560 radio, and 622 radio protocols. Still, seeing a P-TTL flash from YongNuo is encouraging.

I had some slight problems syncing my 560II with my k-5II. At times the flash won't fire and there's a thread about that here in the forum. I hope this one works well. There was a time when I emailed yongnou and they said their flash wasn't compatible with Pentax.
For yongnou to manufacture a flash for Pentax is a good sign. Third party companies are beginning to notice Pentax. I'm a little annoyed by the fact that there is only one company who sell Pentax products here. And their prices are so high and you have to quarrel for after sales services. I hope things will improve here in my part of the woods.
