When bad things happen

It just happen today, and I think I will be back to ask for some idea for a new body later this week.

K5 classic, drop chest level, looks like the rear part hit the floor first. I drop it at chest level before but it land bottom first. this time, I was not that lucky!

Looks like it was taking photo while it bouncing on the floor.

first test (with panic) when I pick it up.

second test with no panic just to confirm that it dead for real!

Keep it as it is. Because that is free glass negative edition right there. I would use it like that.

It looks just the protection glass was broken. You can turn a bad thing a good one: remove the broken filter, together with the IR filter and use it for IR photograph!

I think I saw somebody here (?) post a DIY tutorial on how to remove the glass? If anyone have a link, please help me post it here. It is no limit on what experimental i want to do with this body now .

Looks like it is just the ir cut filter that broke this might actually be fixable or convertible to an ir body.

look up IR conversion, as that is all about removing the glass. I would 'do a sensor cleaning' first and tape or glue the glass together so it doesnt spread everywhere. maybe vacuume it out first too.

afterwards do an AF adjust

Can't help but wonder what else might be compromised as well as just the optics.
For me I'd just replace and move on - bad luck.
