You folks might want to wait till I get my part in. Pentax just may have gave me the wrong number again. They don't have a high batting average.

My DS is now fixed!!!!!!!! YeeHaa!!!!
The part number was correct. Took a whole 15 minutes for the job.

One word of caution. The tiny solder tabs on the switch come folded up against the switch. You can only bend them down once. If you try to bend them again...they break off.

Awesome!!! Now tell me why they wanted to replace the whole circuit when they could just replace that switch? :ugh:

I doubt seriously if they would replace the whole ribbon. It is just too easy to pop the top and change switches. Never known a tech to do more than they had to, to do a repair.

Note: As a tech in both electronics and mechanics for many years. I was trained to never do more than was needed to make a repair. Time was money, speed was profit. So I don't begrudge them their idea of profit. Just not out of my pocket. LOL

I know this is about an 8 year old thread but does anyone on here know the part number for the DS Shutter Switch that was talked about?
