Try TAv (?) mode, where you can specify both the aperture and shutter speed. Try setting it to f3.5(ish?) and 1/1000 or 1/1600 and see how that works. Just try it, even if you're worried about grain. :-) Is this indoor or outdoor sports?

Thanks everyone, took few shots I liked yesterday. Ended up celebrating the lens on the spot quickly and got much sharper results, especially at the long end. Will post later, another game today)

Yeah, looking good, Awscreo! As poor as the light is, it''s lower in the stands so the players get a nice dark background to contrast against.

I was standing at the same level as the players, and cropped for better framing. 200mm is not quite long enough unless they let you stand right at the edge of the field, but 36mp allow for pretty decent crops without loss of quality. Happy with the results, next season will be interesting
