Instead of getting the DA 21/70 I'd say get a standard zoom instead as your next upgrade. I just got the Tamron 17-50 2.8 and it fits right in with my kit, and at a great price, although if this lens wasn't so cheap when I got it I probably would have sprung for the Sigma equivalent because this thing is n o i s y

Yes, we should do @heinamj a favour and take that DA 40 away before the addiction sets in. Besides, the K-30 and the 18-55 is a good enough deal for the price. Who lives nearby?

How about I start a GoFundme page to make it easier for your contributions to the cause?
I've learned to curb my lust for gear by evaluating what I actually need out of a lens. As of now I have no need for any limited glass so I don't own any

Next up you will hunting for the DA 21 and DA 70 Limiteds. As others have said they are addictive. And it doesn't end there, no collection of DA limiteds is complete without the DFA 100 WR Macro and the HS DA Teleconverter.
I already know the DFA 100 WR Macro is going to be on my wish list...

Yeah, you have to call a limit somewhere, unless the FA* 200mm Macro is on your shopping list as well?

The most important part of photography isn't gear, but learning and improving your skills. If you aren't being limited by your current gear then new gear won't help. Even after a couple years of learning I still haven't found myself limited by my small selection of lenses!

Congratulations on the new gear.

My K-30 went to a new home last week, the same day I picked up my new K-S2. You are right about the similarity between the two. The K-30 is a little lighter, and the grip is better IMO. And the 16mp sensor is a gem. You'll enjoy it.
I think you'll enjoy the K-S2 though you are right about the better grip on the K30.

No it isn't a problem - it's not a Limited (although no-one can fathom why not). So it doesn't count against the Limited budget. If you were after the DA 35 Ltd Macro, that would be another story.

But hey, there's no such thing as a bad macro is there? Who knows what you might turn up on Craigslist?

Thanks, I am enjoying it already. I put the FA 43 on it. Which is, um, a Limited.

I second this, I went with the DA*16-50 purchased from Heie and never comes off of my K-50 and is still running strong

I like the DA40 a lot... draws some attention if people see you shooting sports with such a tiny lens lol

Although I don't have my 40mm Limited anymore, it's a very special lens. I see people advocate for 50mm lenses, but 40/43 is my favourite focal length.

I started shooting with it today and was VERY impressed with how much I could crop in with my K-S2 sans AA filter and still have a sharp image... and I started thinking about how you could almost use it for things like sports. I'll definitely be using it for a dance shoot I'm doing this week.

I find it very usable for basketball with an apsc camera. Probably not such a good idea for soccer though

It's a great lens and, if you need a wider field-of-view on a limited budget when shooting something that's not moving, use the 40 Limited to take a few over-lapping shots, and feed the images into MS ICE (Image Composite Editor). It's a free software download from Microsoft that will stitch them together to make a super-resolution wide-angle image.

I went out this morning for a few quick shots from the road ... I'm addicted already...

K-S2 with DA 40mm f2.8 Limited with no added sharpening... farm buildings are over 1/4 mile away.
