Limited lens for a limited budget

Just got a lightly used K30 (<2500 on the shutter) including DAL 18-55mm and 16GB Extreme card
*AND*
a DA 40mm f2.8 Limited lens in very good condition with caps and hood.

Off Craigslist ...
for $150 total ...
:-)

This is my first limited lens and it should match up well with my primary body (KS2 with no AA filter).

The K30 will be a good secondary since the button layout is close to the same as on KS2.

K1 and good glass isn't in my budget, so I'm thankful and blessed to find this.

I agree, the DA40 lenses are very good indeed, and the Limited versions are *lovely*. Good catch!

@heinamj - you're right, that DA 40 is not really good. Send it to me for proper disposal. I'll pay shipping

Dynamite score! I decided I was happy with the humble crop sensor and started investing in HD DA Ltd glass. Love my 3 pancakes immensely and am squirrelling away for a 4th to add to the stack.

There is one problem with the Limited's - you get hooked on the experience and want more. Kinda like smoking except I was able to quit smoking. You won't be able to quit Ltd glass! LBA lookout!

Yes, we should do @heinamj a favour and take that DA 40 away before the addiction sets in. Besides, the K-30 and the 18-55 is a good enough deal for the price. Who lives nearby?

Oh boy do I know that feeling. I have been wanting the 15mm Limited for three years now (ever since I got my K-30) but something always seems to come along to prevent me getting one (like all my other lenses, tripod, bags/cases etc.!)

I could have bought one for this years Xmas present to myself but just today I ordered a shiny new K-70 (in silver) so the 15mm Limited remains on the wish list (for now!)

That's a cracking deal you got heinamj, I paid a lot more than that for my used (but mint) SMC 40mm Limited from an Ebayer in Japan and I thought I'd got a bargain!

Congratulations on the new gear.

My K-30 went to a new home last week, the same day I picked up my new K-S2. You are right about the similarity between the two. The K-30 is a little lighter, and the grip is better IMO. And the 16mp sensor is a gem. You'll enjoy it.

get ready to start lusting after the DA21 and DA70 Limiteds...... and if you can keep from casting your view towards the FA Limiteds, you'll be fine...

Even the XS version of the 40mm is amazing. Really under appreciated lens because of the DA 50 and 35, but I wouldn't trade my 40mm for either.

Good thing about the xs and the limited is that they both work great on full frame! It's a lens you'll be able to use for life, no matter how much you grow as a photographer.

Next up you will hunting for the DA 21 and DA 70 Limiteds. As others have said they are addictive. And it doesn't end there, no collection of DA limiteds is complete without the DFA 100 WR Macro and the HS DA Teleconverter.
