I took my K10D to Burning Man. If I was going this year, I'd buy a W80 and use that during the week and save my Kx for the night of the Burn.

Reading these posts brings back memories of the early Burning Man festivals held at Baker Beach in San Francisco. I only went out to the playa once, in 2001 and didn't have a dslr, but I took my film Pentax (and a Digital Elph pocket cam) and kept them in sealed plastic bags when I wasn't using them.

Hey guys,

I decided on the K10D for the trip. I was thinking about getting a used K200D but as the price of the K10Ds have dropped so much, i am better off using it really well and making history together!

In any case, here is my lens list:

FA 35mm f/2
A 50mm f/1.4
FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited
D-FA 100mm Macro
DA* 50/135mm f/2.8
DA 10/17mm Fisheye
DA 16/45mm f/4

I am really thinking about buying the new WR kit lens 18-55 and take it with me instead of the 16-45. Does that make sense? I can't tell yet if I'd keep it after the event or if I'd sell it... same for the 16-45... Truth is, for the price of these two lenses, I could almost buy the baby DA*... but that is another question..

So basically I am thinking about the following kit:

* K10D
* DA 10-17 fisheye - though it is NOT sealed.
* DA 18-55 WR - would have to buy it, $200

Hows this for a kit? It feels like I am totally missing some tele range... But I am not sure if it is that critical.... I wish I had the balls to bring the DA*50-135, but it wont happen (too heavy and expensive).

so you guys that been there before... should I make an effort to get also the new 50-200 WR or not?

Thanks for the inputs!
