Trade my K-30?

I am a wedding and event shooter. The occasional family and baby shoot.
I dont make much money from it. I have a K-3 and a K-30 for my backup.
Its blue. Its shiny. Its one of its kind in design for pentax bodies.
I love the K-30 but I am afraid of the dreaded aperture block failure.

I have the possibility of getting it traded for a price of 150 euros and get a new K-3II with a grip.

Now if the the block fails. I will loose out on 150 euros. What will you do?

I wouldn't hesitate to trade up, though you could potentially get more through a private sale, since the K-30 is still fairly popular among Pentax fans.

Yep, I would trade up also, if only to avoid the aperture block failure. 150 euros isn't a bad trade-in price *if* you're also getting a good price on the K-3II + grip... See if they will price match the lowest price in your area for the new camera.

As Adam says, you'd get a bit more from a private sale, this sounds like a fair deal all round

Hi @Culture. New member @JMG73 said he fixed his aperture block like this.......... NOT MY K-30 !!! JMG73's

JMG73 post.

My K-30 developed the dreaded aperture control problem, but I just fixed it today, hooray!
It was easy and cost me nothing more than 10 minutes and a few hundred shots, if anyone else out there is stuck with it:

Set the camera to rapid shot sequence and just keep pressing that shutter release in manual mode.
keep changing the aperture setting every now and then, and you should notice it getting unstuck.
(to make things more efficient, set the shutter to 1/100 or so, the idea is just to get loads of movement in the mechanism to overcome the magnetically charged lever in the aperture control mechanism). It sure beat shelling out €200 for a repair or buying a new body, and, in my case, seems to work perfectly!

Oops, my bad

The "like" was for providing the link I gave JMG73 one when he originally posted the info...

CRAP or should I say COOL!!
If this is actually true, then it will be very good news.
It will be good to see if other users are able to fix the problem this way.

ADAM can you make a banner on the frontpage so this can actually be tested.
