Keep lowest ISO and shutter speed faster than 1/400s in Av mode...

Is there a way to say that if I have aperture set to a value I want but I want to keep the shutter speed faster than 1/400s while keeping the ISO as low as possible?
Sort of like this:
If shutter speed is slower than 1/400s then raise ISO else if shutter speed is faster than 1/400s keep the lower ISO.
Or would I just have to do that manually looking at the values?

Thanks

Isn't that TAV mode? maybe with some exposure compensation mixed in

If you increase the shutter speed, the iso will increase, and vice versa

Sort off but not quite what I mean, that's what I'm ending up using for now.

I don't think there is a either or solution like you described it but you could use TAv mode to set shutter speed and aperture and let the camera deal with the ISO.

ah you mean like keep a fixed low iso unless you raise the shutter speed?

you could do it manually by switching in between a fixed iso and a auto iso in the iso menu... or by switching between manual mode and tav mode

You know what...
I'm not really sure what I want

On another front... how can you access the ISO menu when the AF point is the select with the 4 way?

Ya can't

I really want pentax on the K-3 III to find another place for the video/photo switch and put an AF toggle there instead.

I suppose switching from M to TAV is easier if you use the AF point selection mode often

Well that's stupid!

I use the e-dials and RAW/Fx button to move the AF points anyways!

Holding down the "ok" button does the trick on my K-30.

I think what you were saying originally is that it would be nice to be able to set a band for the shutter speed and not just a fixed value - just as you can with the ISO. I agree. (The same could go for the aperture value.) Yes you can alter the shutter speed in Tv or TAv mode, or using HyperProgram from what the camera selects, but it would be useful to be able to tell the camera that you want not less or not more than a particular value.

Oh, my bad, I thought you were doing that already, and you wanted something easier
I've several times accidentally changed some other setting when my eye is to the viewfinder and I think i'm in the focus point selection mode

Pentax doesn't let you set a max or min shutter speed or ISO like Canon does. Sorry.

I have to disagree with your statement. You are correct when you say Pentax doesn't have the capacity to set a minimum and maximum range on shutter speeds but it is possible to set the range of the Auto ISO Settings to a very narrow range on many of the newer bodies by adjusting the minimum and maximum Auto ISO set points.

Setting the Auto ISO into a range from 100 to 400 and setting the lens either to it's optimal fixed F-Stop usually F8 or lower will force a faster variable shutter speed
