That is 2018. Well I expected only one new camera this year, so with KP we reached that goal.

Just as the title asks...do you think the K3ii replacement will have 36mp's, or any more for that matter? I know mps aren't everything, but I'm thinking about the ability to crop images and still retain amazing quality.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
You wouldn't want it, Amp.

The more pixels you put on a wafer, the smaller they have to be.

You can end up gaining resolution but losing ISO performance.

Does anyone have any info on just how much better in noise performance the new gen 24Mp sensors are than the sensor in the K-3 II...and also how they compare with the sensor in the K-1?

Cheers,
Terry
Take a look at the K-70 review. The difference is real, especially in JPEG mode:

Taking your wafer analogy a little bit farther, can one presume that you get roughly the same performance from a 24mp aps-c sensor as a FF 36mp sensor given their respective sizes?
Thanks for your time.

I'd be happy with 24mp. I'd be happier with 20mp. There could even be a possibilty of 28mp. In the end it doesn't really matter for me as long as the AF has been improved.

The KP & K-70 have recieved major improvemnts in just about everything. The upcoming flagship will most likely have similar improvemnts & then some. Something tells me that it's going to be much improved over the K-3/3II. More than what the K-3/3II was to the K-5II/5IIs.

Having produced the K-1 and the KP, Pentax need a bit of differentiation, so it would make more sense to chase faster burst rates and deeper buffers than more Mp - especially if they can further improve the AF - they're not going to compete in the sports camera arena - that's too tied up, regardless of how good a product they produce - but they should focus on a great wildlife camera, which should be about 24Mp with Pentax weather sealing, better high ISO and AF than the K-3 - plus decent video - wildlife people like to be able to have that option, and it's got to bet better or the brand loses credibility - makes it an easy target.

The higher the pixel count, the higher the disk space required to hold that data.

No, when you crop the 36Mp you get 15-16Mp.

Anything more than that, you've had to make the pixels smaller.

Hi, do you think pentax would make the replacement for the pentax k3II camera this year?I am thinking to buy the K3II but if they are going to make the substitute I will wait.
Have you heard rumors?
Sorry for my English.
