It would have to be another digital body. Film bodies had no issues with establishing manual/auto focus and focal length for their operation. One never had to enter this type of info into a menu, unlike with DSLR models. The 35-80mm is a very old lens, much older than the K-10D and one of the inexpensive entry-level lenses from the film era. I think one 35-80mm even came with a plastic mount. I also believe there is an issue with that lens's contacts. After cleaning with the proper solutions and clean clothes, I would say also twist the lens on and off the camera several times to further clear the contacts of any accumulated atmospheric residue.
