now this surprised me

Hi All

I am new K10D owner ( but not that new to pentax )
I used to shot alot of commercial product with my Canon stuff
ie 5D and L glass --- but I am now comparing the sharpness of my "new" k10d ( 1 month )
with the DA 70mm Limited vs the Canon 85mm 1.8 ( non L ) and I gotta tell ya
it is no contest ---- Pentax all the way ---- if fact I may now sell my 5d with the
L glass and buy more Pentax glass. I have always loved the look of the Taks
I go way back into the early 70's with an SP 500 and a couple of Taks. Call me crazy but me thinks I need to dump the Canon stuff and get some real sharp
Pentax kick butt glass ----- Am I crazy????? please don't answer that

one happy k10d owner without any focus issues ( you know the back and front focus stuff with lens )

kman

Sounds great. Sell the Canon and get a second body K20D. But wear armour if you post anything on DDR about this. We'll keep it our secret.

G'day Kman,

To answer your question "are you crazy", we need a little more information please....

are you asking this question because the little voices have told you to...
or are you just owning up to something that you have long suspected (like many of us)....

seriously for a brief moment, interesting observations on your part, it is very apparent that the technology keeps marching on.

Cheers (will get back to you on the original question).

others will have to answer that on my behalf....I can't on the grounds of self (& spousal) incrimination....

But why not post it elsewhere, could liven up the day a bit.

The canon forum on FM ought to know, if it was posted in a very positive upbeat, non trolling way i mean.
Or sneak it into the alt. gear forum, it's frequented by canon users too, since everyone loves takumars.

Well...Welcome to the club. I was sponsored for over two years with Canon and went to Pentax. I compared the output between the Pentax K20D and the Canon 1Ds MKll and found the output of the Pentax to be better than that of the Canon. When I left Canon and announced the fact on both the Canon and Pentax sectors in DPR, I was banned. Being that I posted often in the Canon section, I thought I would share my revelation. It was with the K10D that I commenced with Pentax. It was NOT appreciated by the Canonist's to say the least.

I want to say thanks to everyone for your nice responses
so I guess I am not crazy after all

just for the record ---- I am not going to pixel peek at all of my files
from both cameras ----- my observations are based solely upon my own
viewing of the results from both systems ( Canon and Pentax ) in Adobe Lightroom
I am not into the scientific method on my comments nor am I going to be
but ---- I really like the results from the K10d and pentax glass even the
kit lens is sharp which totally blew me away ( come on a $100 lens ?? )

one other comment ----- regarding the k10d vs the 5d ---- my goodness the viewfinder brightness and manual focus ability of the k10d is without
question a much better setup than the 5D --- I can actually "see" if something looks sharp in the viewfinder with the pentax ( and all of that with 50yr eyes and variable bifocal lens ) --- it is as if I have now truely seen the Light ( literally ) thru a very nice viewfinder

How can an effectively smaller viewfinder of the K10D be better for MF than that of 5D? Also, how can a smaller mirror (of the K10D) which collects less light but with a relatively larger magnifcation produce a "brighter" viewfinder image??

It just puzzles me much for your claimed statements.. In fact, everyone knows that 5D has a larger and brighter viewfinder than *any* APS-C DSLR, *physically*. Can anything on this planet be against the law of Physics? ;-)

Maybe since he's actually shot pictures with both cameras he can make a better judgement.

Kmankaer, RH is our resident troll. There's no banning on these forums and we all do our best to humour him depending on the comments and time of day.

Just ignore him like the rest of us do.
