It is strange because they could easily use this information to make more money by charging a slight premium on low counts. Or perhaps they are worried they will lose money if the counts are too high?
The guy on the phone simply said they don't track the shutter count. No further explanation.
And if I saw a SC of 8 (like my K-01) I would be suspicious, like "so what is wrong with it"? (in my K-01's case, it was simply shutter noise being too loud for former owner). A count of 500-1000 would be less suspicious.
My local store has a K-7 body that has 55K on it, they want too much $ so forget it.
