Now if a DA15 or DA21 had been on the camera, we might have captured the mad dash!

Nice to hear that things are all OK, although when I first read "chicken wire" I had horrifying visions of crazed, jagged smash-patterns in multiple lens elements...

This should be renamed "Why I'm not going to buy a used K-3"

Though I have not dropped mine, it did give me a scare recently. I was training a new person in the photo department on using the studio strobes. After demonstrating that the slave strobes fire in sync with the camera flash, I handed her my K-3 and told her to shoot a few. Being the user of a small Canon DSLR, she was not expecting the heft of the K-3 and nearly fell over.

My k3 also fell from about 1m (3 feet) onto concrete paving with a tamron 10-24 lens mounten. The sunshade took the bug hit and got cracked (but still working) while the camera shows only a very small scratch on the corner near the top lcd. Must say i was pleasantly surprised by how solid it is built

My k-3 tumbled in a lowepro holster 3' to a hardwood floor. It landed at an angle on the FA 35 and trashed the lens. The camera was unharmed. The FA 35 is now like an M series after repairs. No af, no aperture automation.

I've been more careful with my K3II but my K5 took a beating. It's still fine, though it does have its scars. The 55-300 was repaired once and written off after the second damage. I tend to buy rugged gear, because I do use it in the field.

Glad it's not the Tim Tebow of cameras...great for a few years at low level, failure at the big time, now playing minor league baseball.
