New Camera

Hey guys I'm looking forward this year to buy a new camera.

But I have no idea which one. I wanna stick to Pentax and on my Web searches, I found two that I like a lot. Thes are the Pentax K3ii and the Pentax k5ii.

Do you know better Pentax cameras in a price range from 500 - 1300.

Well, the K-5 ii is superb, but quite dated nowadays. Even the K-3 ii is not the most recent. I would certainly pick that one over the K-5 ii. It will last you longer.

Enjoy your new camera!

Bear in mind the K3II has no onboard flash. If GPS is more important than flash, get that - otherwise, look for the K3.

So the K3ii is the "best" choice then If I need GPS ?

It can be also a different Pentax type.

I've had the K-5 IIs and currently have the K-3 and the K-1.
IMO the K-3 has the best handling, design, and construction of any camera I've used.

Sounds great. The K1 is to professional for me and I don't want to buy lenses for fullframe.

Thank you for your point of view :3

here is an option for getting gps info automatically recorded with Pentax cameras

Pentax O-GPS1 reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database

https://www.pentaxforums.com/reviews/pentax-o-gps1-gps-unit/introduction.html

I believe it will work with the K 3 as well

you do lose the hot shoe connection point and the on board pop up flash when using it

In your shoes with your budget going up to 1300 I'd almost look at a KP, but a K3 would be a definite good one, and you would have money for some glass to go with it.

when you are pinching pennies and who doesn't be sure to be realistic :

how often do you really need exact GPS location recorded. are there other options (cell phones apps (?) stand alone gps units etc) if all you need is a spot recorded or using a map???

how often will you be shooting in weather/dust requiring WR lenses??? Are there other ways to protect (yes, there are and they are cheaper)

is it better to get an adequate older model of camera body and mate it with the latest and best lenses you can afford

is it better to ask questions and learn from the experiences of others or learn by myself???

will the ability of the Pentax camera bodies to utilize older lenses help by allowing the purchase of adequate older lenses at a cheaper price

am I preaching to the choir by posting this or being somewhat helpful to others?????

The K-5, K-5II, and K-5IIs are capable of gps if used with the accessory O-GPS1 unit which fits onto the camera flash mount, along with the K-3 and some other models. The K-3II and K-1 have the gps capability built in, so no accessory is needed.
