In Romania:
- K-1 2241 EUR
- D FA* 70-200 2225 EUR
- K-3 II +44 EUR

Our dealer had this information regarding the price increase on their website - tomorrow is the last day one could order at the old prices.

Yes, in Germany you can only get the old prices up to tomorrow and there also is an ending 10% discount on certain lenses.

I am shocked by the price level in Romania though, given contrasting the local income level.

Doesn't appear to be currency related like last summer.

If only prices would be proportional to the income... (you'd buy from Romania, then - as there's nothing to stop you from doing so )
The products are from the same source (Pentax Europe), and there's a 19% VAT.

Cool, I got mine last year for lower than list price (gift from dealer), glad to see that prices are increasing.

If FF was all I wanted I'd not waste money on a shitty old Sony toy without real viewfinder, but buy the Canon 5D for less than 300 EUR on eBay.

But that was not the point. I just am happy about the increased prices for new K-1s.

Yep and I can't really understand that stockholm syndrome. You are not a Pentax employee, you are not a Ricoh stakeholder, you do not benefit of their increased revenue.

As a consumer, the less you spend for what you get, the better. There no point to rejoice in having to work more to get the same thing.

The less we spend for what we get, the better. Until we found out that there's actually a price for getting cheaper products

Whatever, there will be new rebates, early adopters pay more, ... it would be more useful for Pentax to spend the collected funds into new lenses. In the long run, a new lens collects more than a simple increase in price.

You do not understand the game at all.

I am a stakeholder of my own wallet and I can only sing songs of praise for any manufacturer who raises prices of stuff that I already own. It increases the value of my existing inventory, so I can sell for more if I would want that.
Bravo for raising prices for the K-1 and the DFA*

And as a consumer I also really hope that the newly anounced clunky primes (50/1.4 et al) are published at really, really high prices far beyond the $2,200 that are the fair benchmark value. The more money other weird people spend, the better for the R&D for later products which I might like. I think the primes should start selling at $3,000 and stay there for the next 3 years.

People here seem to want:
  • A K-mount
  • a 36x24 sensor
  • a mirror and prism
  • a lot of dynamic range
People here seem to understand other formats, mounts and technologies exist, but people HERE seem not to be interested in them, at least not exclusively.

Compulsive, reflexive argument against this prevailing interest set on thread after thread after thread and expecting a Change Outcome seems <rational.

As long as the prices are still very competitive, so Pentax remains an attractive choice for customers, to ensure the brand's ongoing success. It seems there have been price fluctuations right along as to some lenses, and recently to Pentax's full-frame DSLR also.
