When do you typically see price reductions?

Are there specific periods during the year when the larger dealers have sale events? When might we see a price break on the K3II?

For the time being at least, the K-3II is still the flagship APSC body and I would imagine the first real reductions would come after its rumoured replacement arrives. Other than that there are the usual sales and clearances of course, but I've rarely seen flagships take a massive cut in any of the usual events, more often small reductions or just free accessories.

The top APS-C models usually have small (~100$) price cuts around a year after introduction and another around the time the replacement is announced.

It's kind of hard to imagine that the K3ii price will sink lower than this without a replacement.

I've seen to K-3II body sell for as low as $727 directly from Amazon. I think it was around February or so of last year. The price will come down some more when the next generation APS-C flagship is released.

November & December are the next 2 times where either prices dip down a bit or other incentives are thrown in. Last year wasn't that great, though. Who knows about this year.

In the UK a number of promotions seem to have finished at the end of March or a little later. K3ii(+£150) and K1(+£200) have both increased in price at many(but not all) stores, as have K50/K70 to a lesser extent. Freebies have also been withdrawn - battery grip with K3ii and free 50/1.8 lenses. Source: camerapricebuster.co.uk

These unexplained increases are usually a sign that the price hike will be reversed (after the mandatory minimum period is up) and there will be a notional '£150 Off!' in a so-called special offer.

I noticed it particularly this time as I bought a K3ii at the lower price with freebie - but I know what you mean.

It's difficult to guess if the K-3II will have price reductions when a new APS-C flagship is announced. The mid-level KP is considerably more expensive than the K-3II. It's prudent to assume the K-3II replacement's will have a price at launch that is north of the KP price. A high priced K-3III may drive demand for a K-3II without a price drop.

That thought, and possible Brexit effects, did affect my thinking.

I would not wait for a price drop of K3ii if I wanted one. The price is already low now, and the next model is not even rumored. Buying a slightly used one and start shooting right away might be a better solution.

I am amazed how well the prices of new and second hand Pentax K-3/3II cameras are holding their ground. On average, second had ones seem to be around $700. I would have expected a bigger reduction by now.

I always seem to notice the price drop two weeks after I have bought mine :0

I am not quite sure why that is...

Recently Pentax prices have been very stable. It's tough to predict if and when prices will drop, since the K-3 II is already much lower than it was at launch, and significantly lower than the KP. We do have the deal finder tool to help you keep track of trends:
