Just wanted to say thanks for all the great dialogue here. I may not be able to get on here shortly because my wife will probably kill me or at least break my fingers when she finds out I just bought that new K20D. You only go around once, you may as well go around broke.
I'm trying to figure out how to get a D700 into the house.

Wonder what MY wife will break.

Plus you have other disadvantages; like the Snow Snakes crawl up your pants leg and bite you!!! Down here in sunny southern New Mexico all we got is Gila Monsters.

G Money - You did the right thing.

It's easier to seek forgiveness versus securing permission.

Cheers!

Flash and Lens were my sneak

I bought a 540 flash and told her the 360 flash price, but I pay the bills.

Then I took lots of nice pictures of her and showed her how the lighting was so even and made her look even more beautiful.

All she said was "good - you better take some nice pictures at my great-neices first birthday party this weekend".

Whew! Of course, she does not know about the 55-300 lens yet!

Man, I can't believe how you guys are such wussies about telling your wife. Do what I do -- lie like a stinking dog!

I am reminded of my (late) uncles advice to me (with my bride standing at my shoulder) at our wedding:

"when you go to bed tonight and hang your pants over the end of the bed, tell your wife, that in the morning when we get up..I put those on.... "

.....oops gotta go!! Anne's coming...

Broke is one thing, broken bones quite another. Just make sure you are not holding the camera when she brakes your fingers

That's it. Make up a fake Canadian rebate in photoshop, for like $300.00 off, and say you couldn't pass up the deal. Tell her that once you sell the K10D you'll be almost even. Use a form something like the one below, and fill it out and tell her you sent it in. Then hope she forgets all about the rebate in a couple months. If she doesn't, and brings it up, show her the other posts on this forum about how long those darn rebates take. I always have forgotten about my rebates by the time I finally receive the check, hopefully she'll forget all about it eventually too. However, if she's got a good memory.....
