Thanks for the comments. Always such a friendly group here!

Another with the Samsung GX-1S and Zenit MC Zenitar-M2s 50/2 combo. Sometimes this lens pleases me even more than a Helios 44.

Thanks Ivan. Yes, I never thought to seeing him performing in person
I saw him on a little photo walk in the neighbourhood.

That's orchards we're looking at, is it? Guess what Paul, I ordered an *ist DS today from a private seller. Shutter count will be a surprise though too.

Yes, an orchard, but i don't know what they are growing - possibly some type of citrus. Congrats on the DS! I know you'll appreciate the bigger VF compared to your K100D, enjoy!

I'm looking forward to it. It will still take a few days until it arrives.

Not much luck with the *ist DS

Today I got it with the postal service. Looks quite good besides one deep scratch in the sd card flap. I loaded bateries, put in an old small sd card (still firmware 1.00) and fired a few shots. Seemed to be ok, also the playback was fine, magnification via e-dial worked too. Checked the shutter count and found it only has 3596 actuations, not bad so far. Then I decided to update the firmware wich I took from the official Ricoh site. The update worked out fine, no issues with that, but then the trouble started. It's the e-dial that shifts the values around erratically now. No way to dial in an AV or TV value without turning the wheel again and again untill the desired value incidentaly pops up finally. Or it maybe does not, no way to control its behaviour. The same thing with the magnification in playback, gets bigger, gets smaller, jumps to the nine picture view and so on. I'm not sure if this is a result of the firmware update, though I had no probs till then. Now I think I should have tried the camera a bit longer with the 1.00 firmware to be sure ther is a correlation. On the other hand, my first K100D develloped exactly the same issue after about 13.000 clicks and my second K100D that I'm shooting with actually has started to show a very mild version of that bug, but is still usable. Seems I simply don't have too much luck with old gear. At least, the DS was ridiculously cheap but nonetheless I'd rather have a copy without that fault.

Have you tried a bit of contact cleaner in the e-dial slot? I've heard this is an issue with the DS. Well, the low shot count is great!
