Trying out the Super Takumar 55mm/2.0 on the DL2 yesterday evening. What a fantastic little camera it is - for me the closest any DSLR has ever come to recreating the pleasure of shooting slide film. And the weight loss from leaving out the shake reduction makes it so light that I'm now carrying it as a second camera all the time.

When I return to my K10D or GX10 after using my GX-1S (*ist DS2 clone), I do appreciate the extra features, slightly better handling, and more consistent lightmeter. But... The *ist D / GX-1s range are fantastic for when you want 90% (or more) of the performance of the K10D/GX10 in a much lighter, smaller, simpler package. I could shoot with nothing but the GX-1S and be confident in consistently getting very pleasing photographs with all of my lenses. Stick something like a little Takumar (like the 28/3.5 or 35/3.5) or an ever lighter DA lens like the 35/2.4 and it barely weighs anything at all...

Long may your DL2 last Dave!

Those are the main reasons my primes are usually fixed on my *ist D A nice small & lightweight combo!

A curious & friendly duck. Super Tak 28/3.5 on *ist D:

Love that lake shot Paul, super tranquil... The Super Tak 28/3.5 is a lovely lens, just haven't quite used mine enough to find its best applications yet.

Those are really beautiful, particularly the first one. Could you tell us which lens you used? The exif just says "A Series" without giving the focal length.

Around here I get a glimpse of a deer maybe once a year, and I've never managed to get a photo because I've never had the right lens on the camera at the time.

Thanks Dan. I have the earlier version (58mm) - really love the saturated colors and microcontrast.

@stihlmania: beautiful shots!

I feel much the same way about my K200D, which has the exact same sensor as my K10D in a lighter, somewhat more user friendly package. It has become very much of a 'go-to'camera for me.

Good to know there's another CCD option out there should my K10D and GX-10 both fail!

I've been exploring other CCD sensors a little, which has led me almost back to a Pentax, a Ricoh GR D. The first model I think had an 8MP CCD, and the ii and iii models had a 10MP CCD. Obviously smaller sensors than in the K10D, but appealing nonetheless, especially with all the other features and praise they get...

Shot these today in rather grey conditions with my Samsung GX-1s and the humble, and I feel underrated, Rikenon 50/2 K mount lens. They're cheap, light, small (I have the smaller almost "pancake" version") and perform very well, and make an excellent compact companion to the little 6MP CCD bodies.
