Jeannie on the trails recently. The paved walkways have been built over the last couple years and are very nice (with more coming!). A35/2.8 on *ist D:

I picked up an *istDL2 for £20 a couple of years ago with an "auto-focus" fault which was actually down to the fact the lens wasn't AF

Taken yesterday with Sigma lens.

A haphazard image with some colour, bokeh and blackfly. Thought it was time the Tamron SP 60-300mm was given a run out on the K100D Super.

Thanks, my friend

A lot of people tend to think of the North East of England as poverty-stricken, rough, and blighted by the scars of its industrial history (mining, ship-building etc.). Certainly, there's evidence of all those things if you look for it, but much of the region is really beautiful, the history is amazing, the people are friendly and welcoming if you take time to get to know them, and business in many sectors is booming. If they could only figure out how to make every Summer as good as the one we're currently enjoying, I'd have nothing more to ask

Weather patterns change in a somewhat predictable and cyclic manner, kind of like the economy. It trends from hot and dry to cold and wet, gradually over periods of years and more. In civil design, such as drainage for developments and roads, these cycles of extremes are used as criteria to size the drainage systems. Periods like 10, 20, 50 and 100 years storm extremes are used.

We are experiencing a hot dry extreme currently, but I'm not sure what cycle we may be in. One could chart out the numbers over the past 100 years and get in the ballpark I suppose. No matter, we can't control it, and soon enough we will be in the cold and wet side of the swing.

Focusing on raindrops on the windowpane.
