Thank you, and yes, it's hard to complain about colors from the old 6 mp sensor. I usually shoot in RAW, but this was actually a jpeg from the camera, with just a little PP applied.

Another advantage to the k100D is that it used a fairly ordinary plug for external power, handy for astrophotography:

It's a pity I don't live anywhere dark enough to do this at the moment.

Thank you. I admit I spent most of the time it took to take inside watching a DVD.

I am probably totally wrong here but feel that the SOOC jpegs from the 6mp CCD sensor cameras often had better (i.e. more vivid) colours on default settings than the 10mp CCD sensor cameras.
Based only on my limited shooting with k100D Super, a Samsung GX-10 and a Sony Alpha 100. (Assumption on my part that the Sony had the same 10mp sensor). I did not compare like for like shots, I just has a look through some of my images.
Could this be put down to the processing engines, the default settings or the sensor?

Let me say that this picture would be a great one by its own. The fact that it's a last breath makes it mind blowing.

This is what happens when a CCD-chipped Pentax DSLR is possessed by the soul of an impressionist painter. The experience is fatal to the camera, but if the shot makes it onto the storage card the results are magnifique.

In my experience, the RAW color rendering is fairly similar on the 6 and 10 mpx sensors. I did notice that my K100D seemed to produce nicer looking jpegs than my *ist D or K10D.

mmm...*ist D with K55/1.8, I think...

Interesting thoughts! I had a Sony a100 which I assumed also was the same Sony sensor as the Pentax K10D, but whilst I liked the (RAW) images I got from the Sony, somehow I preferred the ones from the K10D, even when shot with the exact same (M42) lenses. So I sold the Sony.

With my 6MP sensor Samsung GX-1S, aside from the physical size of the images (which are still big enough to make a decent sized print), I can't tell the difference from my K10D images. This again is shooting RAW with both, and simply exporting to JPEG with all neutral settings in LightRoom afterwards.

Consequently, given the Samsung's smaller size, lighter weight and very similar interface, I'm picking it up more often than the K10D.

Samsung GX-1S with Asahi Takumar 120mm f/2.8 M42 lens. Direct export from RAW to JPEG in LightRoom, no processing.

Nice, Dan. On a somewhat related note, I've been using my Super Tak 105 quite a bit recently and will post some shots soon.
