Because six megapixels is plenty. . .

A slightly soggy walk this afternoon with the Takumar 28mm/3.5 on the DL2. A combination that I've made sort of DIY weather resistant by. . . well, putting it in a plastic bag basically.

Glad to see the 6MP Club still going strong!

I was around when Paul started the group a couple of years back, but then after discovering a Ricoh GRD III, Pentax Q and Lumix LX3, kind of gave up on DSLRs (I had a K10D, Samsung GX10 (K10D clone!) and Samsung GX-1S (*ist DS2 clone)) and sold them.

Then a couple of months ago, frustrated with using M42 lenses on a Lumix GF1 mirrorless (lovely camera but awful handling and awkward with M42 lens and adapter), decided I needed a DSLR again. Naturally I returned to Pentax, and a K30. Then found it was still a bit of a faff using M42 lenses, so stuck with the DA 35/2.4 and A 50/1.7 I had.

Despite thinking the K30 is a cracking camera, I was not really loving the colours coming out of it, plus found it just a bit too sharp and clinical for me - and way over spec'd for my needs. So I went back in time again and found a K100D for all of £26.

I love the simplicity of the K10D - everything you need and nothing more, and right at your fingertips.

And I remembered what was so great about those old CCD sensors, and their stunning colours!

These couple made with my new (to me) K100D, straight out of camera JPEGs on the "Bright" setting, everything else neutral/zero.

Thanks for looking!

Dan

The very reason I bought a *istD L2 when the opportunity arose, so's I didn't have to keep fitting and dismounting the M42-PK adaptor in my *istD S

So do you have the DL2 for M42 only and the DS for K mount only?

I bought a K30 a couple of months back to use my M42 lenses again, as I have a small cherished set - Auto Takumar 55/2, Super-Takumar 55/1.8, Carl Zeiss Flektogon 35/2.4, Helios 44-2 58/2, Jupiter-37A 135/3.5 - that weren't being used. The process of either stopping down manually or using the A/M switch etc I just found too fiddly whilst using a VF, plus the K30 isn't great at exposing, I was having to exposure compensate virtually every shot. Which meant opening the aperture again to refocus, recompose, stop down again etc.

What I did find was the exposures using Live View were way more accurate, so I'm thinking I might use the K30 via Live View purely as an M42 body, and keep my K100D (which I much prefer using) as a K mount body, shooting colour straight out of camera, and black and white using a simple Snapseed preset I use for a few other cameras.

I like to keep things simple - and the shooting process as fluid and immersive as possible - and just using M42 seems too much effort and too clunky, especially when I can get lovely results with A, F and DA series lenses on the K100D.
